William "Bill" Turner

William Terry "Bill" Turner , 67, Frackville, passed away Sunday August 20, 2017 at Schuylkill Center in Pottsville, with his wife Cindy by his side.

Born in Visalia, CA, February 3, 1950, he was the son of the late Irene Clevenger Turner and William Harrison Turner.

Bill was a 1968 graduate of Redwood High School, Visalia, CA. He enjoyed a 20 year career as a technical photographer with Rockwell International, Los Angeles, CA. In 1998, William and family moved to Cindy's hometown of Frackville, where they assumed proprietorship of Ernie's Photography Studio from Ernie Garbarino.

Growing up in California, Bill loved having the Sierra Nevada Mountains as his backyard, where he enjoyed his horses, dirt bikes and his Harley. After moving to the east coast, he readily accepted Frackville as home. Bill was a great friend to many and a willing host of the Friday night "Round Table," where he regaled many with stories of his "hippie" days at HaightAshbury and his adventures in the deserts and mountains of his home state. Bill was a staunch supporter of local music and over the years welcomed scores of musicians, both local and legendary to play in the "studio band" at Ernie's.

Bill was a member of the former Community Children's Committee, Frackville Historical Society, the 125 ^th Quasquicentennial Committee, Frackville FBPA and the Friendship Fire Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert "Robbie" Turner.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, the former Lucinda Heine, are two sons: William Jason Turner, Dayton, NV and Joseph Harrison Turner, Frackville; a daughter Kerry Anne Turner, Carson City, NV; his sister Mary, wife of Victor Stockbridge, Paradise, CA; grandchildren: Brandon Hense, James Hense, William Jordan Turner and Lillian Elizabeth Turner; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday September 13, 2017 at the Frackville American Legion Post #398, 40 S. Mahanoy St. Frackville with Rev. Robert T. Finlan officiating. Friends may call at the American Legion from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
