Thomas John Zelinsky Sr
., 86, former resident of Frackville, PA passed away at the home of his son, Thomas John Zelinsky Jr, on March 20, 2013. During the past two years he was lovingly cared for by his devoted daughter-in-law, Rosetta.
Born in Pottsville, PA, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Zelinsky. He was preceded in death by his wife Noretta, brothers John, Mike, Billy and Bobbie, and by his sisters Patsy Ann, Elizabeth, and Helen.
For many years, he served as Post Master in Frackville prior to his retirement. He was a devout and active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, after attending many decades at St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville, where he was a proud member of the Men's Choir.
He was a Veteran of World War II and active in many organizations including: the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, Polish Choraliers, Frackville Senior Citizens, and the Schuylkill County Choir. In addition, he was a volunteer at Nativity High School events for many years.
He is survived by daughter Linda Kanezo, husband George, grand-daughter Rachael of Newport News, VA; daughter Bonnie Krosse, her husband Jeff of Pittsburgh, PA; and son Thomas and his wife Rosetta of Pine Grove, PA; sisters Jeannie Moran and Mary Sobities, and many nieces and nephews.
More than anything, Tom loved to sing. Please join us in celebrating his life at his Mass of Christian Burial, Monday at 1 P.M. in St. Joseph's Church, Frackville, with Rev. Robert Finlan, pastor, as the celebrant. Viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and from noon until 12:30 Monday at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Pottsville.
