Thomas J. Whitaker

Thomas J. Whitaker , 76, Frackville, passed away peacefully Monday at Schuylkill Medical Center East Norwegian St., Pottsville.

Born in Shenandoah, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mildred (Slavinsky) Whitaker. He had been employed as a truck driver for Reading Anthracite.

Tom was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Frackville.

He was a US Navy veteran serving from 1955 to 1957.

Tom is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Mary M. (Heinly), his brother Eugene Whitaker, FL; 2 sisters: Maureen Stickel, Philadelphia, and Kathleen Packer of Florida. Tom is also survived my many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville with Rev. Kerry W. Smart officiating. Interment will be at Sky-View Memorial Park Cemetery, Hometown. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service.

The family prefers contributions, in Tom's name, be made to St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 21 S. Nice Street Frackville, PA 17931.
