Thomas F. McAndrew
Thomas F. McAndrew , 88, Bernville, former Frackville resident, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon at Penn State Health St. Joseph's Medical Center, Reading.
Born in Pottsville he was the son of the late Vincent and Florence ( Omlor ) McAndrew..
He was a member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, Robesonia, and was a life-long member of the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville.
Tom was a 20+ year veteran of the US Army, attaining the rank of SFC, during the Korean War. After retiring from the service he was employed by the US Postal Service, having last worked at the Pottsville office until his retirement in 1987.
He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. James A. Hogan Council #2580, Frackville, where he had served as a past grand knight, treasurer, for over 25 years and was the editor of the Pinta newsletter for the council for 30 years, he was also a member of the Schuylkill Assembly, Fourth Degree, K of C.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Helen " Decker " McAndrew in 1996 and his sister Regina Fredericks.
Tom is survived by his son Thomas F. and his wife Mary McAndrew, Edmond, OK and his daughter, with whom he resided, Mary Helen and her husband Kenneth Berger, Bernville, his four grandchildren; Michael McAndrew, Emily Bashore, Kara Care and Madeline Berger, also by four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m from the Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville, Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m in Annunciation Church, of St. Joseph's parish, Frackville, with Rev. Robert T. Finlan, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment with, full military honors, will be in St. Joseph's cemetery, Englewood, Frackville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m with the Knights of Columbus service at 7:30.
