Obituary

Theodore J. "Ted" Ferrari Jr.

Theodore J. "Ted" Ferrari Jr. , 82, Girardville, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday night with his family at his side.

Born in Girardville, he was a son of the late Theodore and Marie Coyle Ferrari. He was a heavy equipment mechanic for Cleveland Brothers for over 20 years and later worked for Burns Coal Company for 25 years before retiring.

Ted was an Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict stationed in Iceland.

He was a member of the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Girardville, now St. Charles Borromeo Parish.

Ted met the love of his life, Beth Thomas, in 1957 and they married in 1958. They raised five children and were blessed with five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Birthdays and holidays were special as the family grew.

Ted started working in the mines at a young age. His passion though, was building, fixing and restoring cars. The passion continued throughout his life. He bought a 1946 Coupe, which he worked on and raced at Kel-reca and Numidia Speedway back in the mid sixties and seventies. Many Sunday afternoons were spent at the racetrack with family and friends cheering him on from the stands as he raced.

Over the years, Ted enjoyed hunting and traveling to Indiana to attend Notre Dame games with his friends from the Sons of Italy in Girardville. On those trips to Indiana, the group traveled in a custom green bus they all affectionately called "the Queen." Being a mechanic, Ted made sure the bus was always ready for these road trips.

To his family, there wasn't much Ted couldn't do. Whether it was a broken toy, bike, motorcycle, car, truck or if it had wheels and burned gas, Ted could fix it. He helped both family and friends alike, including the occasional stranger in need.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Beth T. Ferrari in 2014; a sister, Miriam Bradley and a brother Thomas Ferrari.

Ted is survived by his son Ted Ferrari, Mahanoy City and his fiancé Deanne Jones; his four daughters: Lynn Ferrari, Girardville and her fiancé Robert Beaver, Beth Ferrari, Seneca Falls, NY, Marie Ferrari, Girardville, Morganna Ferrari, Girardville and her fiancé Joseph Mistysyn; his five grandchildren: Tomm, Tedd, Ashley, Emily and Charity; his great-grandson, Aiden; four brothers: Ronald and his wife Mary Ferrari, Girardville, Louis and his wife Gerry Ferrari, Ashland, Joe Ferrari, Girardville and his fiance Diane Martin and Robert Ferrari of Girardville; numerous nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina and Florida.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Girardville with Rev. Edmund Brennan as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Friends may call at the Thomas M.
