Steven “Stu” Davis Sr., 47, of Frackville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, August 30th.

Born in Pottsville, he was the son of Dorothy Mattes Redmond. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Mickey Redmond; a brother, Kevin Davis; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Stu worked for the local 524 pipefitter's union as a pipefitter and welder.

Stu was a graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School, where he excelled on the football field helping the Blue Devils to back to back District XI Championships. His love of the game continued as he went on to play football at Lycoming College. Football remained a tremendous part of Stu’s life, and he was especially proud to coach with the Frackville Mountaineers as his son came through the program. He was always his son’s biggest supporter, cheering him on through his years with the Mountaineers and later with the North Schuylkill Spartans.

Stu was a diehard fan of the Miami Dolphins and the Boston Red Sox. He was a member of the Frackville Elks Lodge #1533 and the Shenandoah Valley Quarterback Club. Above all, Stu was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend who cherished his family and his beloved dog, Thor.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jessica (Holmes) Davis; his mother, Dorothy Redmond; his son, Steven Davis Jr.; his stepdaughter, Hayley Snyder; his brother, Jeffrey Davis and his wife, Donna; his two half-brothers, Mitch Redmond and Josh Redmond; his father-in-law, Joseph Holmes and his wife, Kim; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Stu’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, 501 West Washington Street, Frackville. Everyone attending the service is encouraged to dress in Hawaiian shirts or their favorite team apparel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jessica Davis at 328 N. Center St., Frackville, PA 17931 to help defray funeral costs.
