Obituary

Stephen Tynio

Stephen Tynio , 87 formerly of Frackville and recent resident of Luther Ridge Seiders Hill passed away peacefully on April 8, 2020 at Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Shenandoah.  Born on August 24, 1932 he was the son of the late John and Mary (Chuposka) Tynio.

He is survived by his loving sisters, Elizabeth (Tynio) Puls and Veronica (Tynio) Seitzinger, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.  He resided with his sister Elizabeth in Frackville.  For the past year and a half they both were residents at Luther Ridge at Seiders Hill.

Stephen graduated from Frackville High School 1950.  He actively participated in football, basketball and baseball.  His love of sports followed him throughout his life, playing ball for Wasaitis Giants and Prep's.

He honorably and faithfully served our country as a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War.

A graduate of Penn State, he pursued employment as a surveyor for PA State Hwy of Allentown.  Upon his retirement he was self- employed as a reputable surveyor throughout the area.

Stephen, nicknamed "Grub" or "Roni" by his nieces and nephews enjoyed spending time with his family.  His sense of humor was contagious.   He especially loved the holidays and challenged his nieces and nephews with games including "the Jug", coin toss and treasure hunt games.  Christmas was his favorite holiday gathering with the family for Holy supper and carrying on traditions with the next generations.

Having a coffee with friends at McDonalds, eating breakfast with nieces or nephews, listening to polkas on Sunday afternoon, walking up to the little league field or relaxing on the back porch on a summer day, are all things he truly enjoyed.

He would regularly visit with his sister Ronnie and her family to watch football games, celebrating birthday parties, New Year's Eve and just hang out enjoying each other's company.  He was loved by all.

Stephen was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, Frackville. He was devoted to his faith and enjoyed making pierogies for the church fundraiser.

Private military and graveside services were held at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Frackville. A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's The Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, Frackville.
