Sophie Shearn
Sophie Shearn ,84,Frackville, passed away early Saturday morning, surrounded by her loving family, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Frackville she was a daughter of the late Peter and Barbara " Dembitsky " Urban.
She was a devout member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville, where she could always be found volunteering at any activities that the parish was holding, she was a member of the parish rosary group and was a supporter of the Frackville Food Bank.
Sophie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Edward J. "Butch" Shearn in 2006, her son Edward M. and her great-grandson Ryan Michael Langehennig, eight brothers; Frank, Bill, Michael, John, George Peter, Peter II and Andy Urban, two sisters; Infant baby Mary and Mary Farnish.
She is survived by three sons; John M. "Jack" and his wife Debbie Shearn, Frackville,Robert M. and his wife Doris Shearn, Erlanger, KY and William M. Mt. Carmel, her daughter Mary Kay wife of Brian Walsh, Orwigsburg, eight grandchildren; John, Tim and Rebekah Shearn, Jill Langehennig, Marcie Morris, Andrei Walsh, Brendan and Nathan Shearn, two great-grandchildren; Jossalyn and Evan Michael , several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville, with Rev. Robert Finlan, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Englewood, Frackville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions, in Sophie's name, to either the Frackville food bank or to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517
