Rita M. " Rickey " Semicek , 340 E. Center Street, Mount Carmel, died Monday morning at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Ashland she was a daughter of the late David and Bertha " Kashmir " Shuda. She had been employed as a seamstress/floor lady for the former Humberland Dress Factory, Mount Carmel, until her retirement.

She was a member of Church of Our Lady, Mount Carmel, I.L.G.W.U. and the American Legion Post # 91, Mount Carmel.

Rickey enjoyed spending her spare time with family and friends, at family affairs, casino trips and other occasions.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael J. in 2004, two brothers; David Shuda Jr. and Lester Shuda, five sisters; Agnes Wallace, Monica Rainis, Alberta Zarka, Lillian Orlando and Joan Wojciechowski.

Surviving are her son Michael Semicek, Mount Carmel, her daughter Barbara and her husband Jack Zaylskus, Hazleton, sister Dorothy Simmons, Atlas, two grand-daughters Maria and Shannon Zaylskus, great-grandson Zachary Gerber, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday from the Joseph  J. Stutz Funeral Home, Inc., Mount Carmel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Catholic Church. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. and Friday morning from 8:30 until time of service.
