Paul P. Byrne

Paul P. Byrne , 75,  Ringtown, died Wednesday March 17, 2010, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born and raised in Shenandoah he was a son of the late Jeremiah and Kathleen " Kelly " Byrne. He had been employed as a police officer in Baltimore MD and later as a police officer for the Shenandoah police Department until his retirement in 1980.

He was a graduate of the former Shenandoah Catholic High School. Paul was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Navy aboard the USS English.

He was a member of  St. Casimir's Catholic Church, Shenandoah. He was also a member of Shenandoah Amvets Post #7, AOH, Fraternal Order of Police, Phoenix Fire Co., Tri-County Firemans Assoc., Six County Firemans Assoc. and the Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens.

He was preceded in death by a sister Kathryn Dougherty and by three brothers James, John and Jeremiah Byrne.

He is survived by his wife of more than 41 years Barbara " Guziewicz " , two sisters Margaret Devanney, Shenandoah and Anne Bramley, Frackville, three brothers; William Byrne, Girardville, Vincent Byrne, Mascoutah, IL,  and David Byrne, Shenandoah also several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday in St. Casimir's Catholic Church, Shenandoah, with Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian , pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Friends may call at the church Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until time of mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions, in Paul's name to either St. Casimir's Catholic Church, 106 W. Cherry St., Shenandaoh or to the American Heart Association.
