Norbert H. Turnbach
Norbert H. Turnbach , 85, Frackville, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, June 3, 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sheppton, he was a son of the late Roland and Dorothy ( Baum ) Turnbach. He had been employed as the business manager for the former Ashland State Hospital until his retirement.
He was a graduate of Penn State University and McCann School of Business. He was a staff sergeant in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, American Legion Post # 398, Frackville Masonic Lodge # 737 F & AM, Frackville Area Senior Citizens, all of Frackville. He was the secretary of the Jerry Wolman Sports Hall of Fame and the secretary of the North Schuylkill Hall of Fame.
He was well known by family and friends for his wonderful sense of humor and kind and loving heart. He cherished spending time with his family and greatest loves, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching NASCAR and was a huge PennState, Eagles and Phillies fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Doris Alexander and his brother Rev. Dr. Roland Turnbach.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Eileen ( Walp ), his two daughters; Noreen and her husband Peter W. Bridy, Mount Carmel and Terri and her husband Ronald Tamecki Jr., Dillsburg, his grandchildren; Ashley wife of Jared Smith, Marion Heights, Kaitlyn McGinley, Zachary McGinley and his girlfriend Jamie Ruzicka, Mount Carmel, Kayla Tamecki and her fiancé Dakota Janney, Dylan Tamecki and Paige Tamecki, Dillsburg, Maria and Peter Bridy, Mount Carmel. His nine great-grandchildren; Madison, Mason and Hudson Smith, Bentley Janney, Jaella Bridy, Aaleyah and Autumn Hollenbach, Landon McGinley and soon to be baby McGinley. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Rev. Jacqueline Turnbach, Pottstown, brother-in-law Donald Alexander, Williamsport as well as additional brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville, with Rev. Peggy Sue Pfeffer officiating. Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 9 a.m. until time of service.
