Nicholas J. Tatusko

Nicholas J. Tatusko , 91, Englewood, Frackville, died Sunday at Schuylkill Medical Center East Norwegian Street, Pottsville.

Born in Frackville he was a son of the late John and Mary " Dubec " Tatusko. A self-employed entrepreneur/businessman throughout his life, he was the co-owner of Penn Allen Sportswear, Inc., West Hazleton.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WW II having served as a Warrant Officer glider pilot in the European Theater of Operations.

He was a member of Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, Frackville, where he served his church on numerous committees throughout the years.

He was a member of the Lions club, Elks B.P.O.E #1533 and American Legion Post # 398 all of Frackville and a member of the National WW II Glider Pilot Association. He was a partner of the former Frackville Block Plant, owner of both the Englewood Coal Co. and N.J. Tatusko Trucking Co., co-founder of Wallnick Manor Real Estate Development , co-founder of Broad Mountain Nursing Home and a member of Schuylkill Mall Walkers Assoc.. He was an avid golfer and bowler.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Margaret " Hawranick " Tatusko in 1999, a sister Ann Krill and three brothers; Michael, Steven and Russell Tatusko.

Nicholas is survived by his son Gregory and his wife Rita Tatusko, Minersville, his daughter Madelyn ( Midge ) wife of Joseph M. Paulonis, Frackville, four grandchildren; Gregory N.J. Tatusko, Melissa, Joshua and Jason Paulonis, five great-grandchildren; Ethan, Gavin, Alexandra, Nikolai and Natalie ,his three sisters; Olga Chrush, Frackville, Genn Zawacki, Naples FL and Nita Zarutskie, Laguna Niguel, CA and by several nieces and nephews.

Burial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, Frackville, with Rev James Jadick, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Englewood, Frackville. Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions, in Nicholas's name, be made to the memorial fund of Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, 209 S. Lehigh Ave., Frackville, Pa 17931
