Mary T. Rowan
Mary T. Rowan, formerly of Weston Place, Shenandoah
, died Tuesday night at Lifequest Nursing Center, Quakertown.
Born in Philadelphia she was a daughter of the late John and Nora " McCarthy " Meers. Mrs. Rowan had been employed as a teacher for W. Mahanoy Twp. and Shenandoah Valley School Districts for 29 years until her retirement.
She was a member of Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church, Shenandoah. She was a
graduate of Shenandoah Catholic High School, class of 1938 and
Immaculata College, Philadelphia, class of 1942. Mrs. Rowan did graduate work at both Bloomsburg and Penn State Universities.
She was preceded in death by her husband William J. Rowan in 1974 and her brother John Meers in 1992.
She is survived by a daughter Ann and her husband Roy Tiley, Quakertown, a son William and his wife Dawn Rowan, Frackville, five grandchildren; Roy Tiley, Tara Cary, William, Michael and Robert Rowan, 3 great-grandchildren and also 2 nieces.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday in Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church, Shenandoah, with Msgr. Bernard Flannagan, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until time of mass.
The family prefers contributions, in Mary's name, be made to the Buck's County Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 400 Freedom Dr., Newtown, Pa 18940.
