Mary M. Rainis

Mary M. Rainis , 96, of Gordon, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Mahanoy City, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen (Downey) Igo.  She worked as a nurse's aide at the former Locust Mountain Hospital, Shenandoah Heights until her retirement in 1979.

Mary was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Shenandoah.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Matthew Rainis and her sister Margaret Gaval.

Mary is survived by her sister and caretaker Helen Yensko, who she resided with in Gordon, her sister Ann Wiernicki, Lancaster; a son Matthew and his wife Barbara Rainis, Shenandoah Heights; three grandchildren including her grandson and caretaker Mark Rainis, Girardville and two great-grandchildren; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
