Mary A. Shinkus

Mary A. " Mamie " Shinkus, 89, Frackville, died Sunday , surrounded by her family, at Schuylkill Medical Center, East Norwegian St., Pottsville.

Born in Frackville, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary " Lukach " Hauslyak. She had been employed as a seamstress, for several years, at the former Charles Rabin Factory, Frackville, and also worked as a housekeeper at St. Joseph's rectory, Frackville.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville. She was a volunteer for both Schuylkill County Meals on Wheels and Schuylkill County Senior Services , transporting the elderly to doctors and other necessary appointments.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank M. Shinkus in 1984, her son Vaughn Francis Shinkus, her sister Connie Dillman and her brother Andrew Hauslyak.

She is survived by her two sons; Alan and his wife Georgine and Mike and his wife Marian, both of Frackville, eight grandchildren; Alan C., Adam, Anthony, Vaughn, Amanda, Michael, Jordan and Samantha Shinkus, her great-grand-sons Aden and Vaughn, her best friend Dolores Wapinsky, nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville, with Rev. Robert Finlan, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Englewood, Frackville. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30 until time of mass.
