Mary Hope
McGuigan
November 28, 1944 – December 7, 2024
Mary Hope McGuigan , ne’e Boylan, age 80, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 7, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on November 28, 1944, to Francis Xavier and Hope Louise (Beddall) Boylan, Mary Hope was raised in the close-knit community of Girardville, Pennsylvania, alongside her three brothers, James, Martin, and Francis, who preceded her in death.
A proud graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy-High School’s Class of 1962 in Fountain Springs, Pennsylvania, Mary Hope carried with her a lifelong devotion to faith, family, and friendship. She was first married to William Corrigan, with whom she had three beloved daughters. Life’s journey then led her to working at General Electric in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she met Frank McGuigan Jr., a single parent as well with a 14 year old daughter. They married in June 1973, blending their families. In 1976, Frank’s career took them to Orange County, California where they made a home in the city of West Garden Grove. Later that year, they welcomed their youngest child, a son.
Mary Hope found joy in life’s simple but profound moments—gathering with loved ones, sharing stories, and making everyone feel welcome in her home. After raising her children, she worked in Human Resources, where her warmth and compassion left a lasting impact on colleagues and friends.
She faced life’s challenges with resilience and grace, especially after Frank’s passing in 2015. In her later years, she found solace and happiness in the company of her growing family, treasuring time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as her many dear friends.
Mary Hope is survived by her five children: Elizabeth Sheila Steinberg, Donna Ford (Greg), Dolores Lucker (Ron), Frank McGuigan III (Tiffany)and Mary Beth Oswald (Scott); 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength will live on through each of them.
A funeral Mass was held in her honor on January 11, 2025, at St. Polycarp Catholic Church in Stanton California. Mary Hope will be laid to rest alongside her beloved family at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Fountain Springs, Pennsylvania on June 19, 2026.
Though she will be deeply missed, the love Mary Hope shared and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home Inc., Girardville is assisting with her arrangements.
