Martha M. DiSalvo
Martha M. DiSalvo , Frackville, died peacefully Sunday evening at ManorCare of Pottsville.
Born in Frackville on March 19, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Marian " Haddad " Koury. Martha was retired from the US Air Force serving as a SSGT during the Korean War.
She was a devout member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. James # 1029, where she served as hospitality secretary for several years, Knight of Columbus Auxiliary, Fr. James A. Hogan Council #2580 and the Frackville American Legion Post # 398 all of Frackville, a life member of DAV post #77 and member of VFW Post # 6925.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alphonse P. DiSalvo, in 1997, by nine brothers: David, Michael, William, Charles, James, George, Joseph, Anthony and Edward Koury, her two sisters; Madeleine Galgay and Anna Wonderlick.
Martha is survived by four nieces , who were her caregivers; Marian wife of Joe Halko, Beverly wife of Michael Kelly, Dottie wife of Frank Brennan, all of Ashland and Honora wife of Fran Jankowski, Muncy, her brother John and his wife Marcelle Koury, Santa Anna, CA, she is also survived by several additional nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville. Interment , with full military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until time of mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions, in Martha's name, be made to Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. James # 1029, % Barbra Meusel, 530 Morris Street, Frackville, PA 17931
