Obituary

Marlene P. Bolinsky, 77, of Frackville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13th at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill East, Pottsville, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Ashland, she was a daughter of the late David and Thelma (Kline) James.

In addition to her parents, Marlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank J. Bolinsky on March 20, 2026; her grandson, Jared Bolinsky; and her siblings, Doris Roberts, David James, Shirley Sewinsky, Arthur James, Melvin James, Burwell James, and Lester James.

Marlene was a woman whose love for her family was evident in everything she did. Known for her feisty personality and quick wit, she brought laughter and joy to those around her and never hesitated to share her honest opinion. Her warm and caring nature made her the heart of her family, and her presence will be deeply missed.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marlene was the matriarch of the family and early on in her life played an instrumental role in helping operate the family business, Bolinsky Landscaping. While balancing the responsibilities of the business, she lovingly raised her five children (and their friends) and was a constant source of support for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether cheering from the sidelines or offering words of encouragement, she was always there for those she loved.

Marlene was also well known for her homemade rice pudding (blub, blub, blub), a favorite among family and friends that became a symbol of the comfort, love, and hospitality she shared so freely. In addition, she dedicated part of her life to serving as a life-sharing provider for individuals with developmental disabilities, opening her heart and home to those in need of care, guidance, and compassion.

Marlene is survived by her five children; her son, Frank Bolinsky and his wife, Allison; and her daughters: Nea Griffin and her husband, John "Lou"; Tonya Kovach and her husband, Jeff; Tara Steinhilber and her husband, Dave; and Vanessa Lindenmuth and her husband, Billy; her brother, Ronald James and his wife Ruth; her eleven grandchildren, Ryan, Derek, Emily, Matthew, Kaitlyn (David), Aaron, Nathan, Kevin, Tyler (Madeline), Rylee, and Brady; her great-grandchildren, Reagan, Luca, and one baby boy on the way. Marlene is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Englewood Section, Frackville.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations, in Marlene's memory, be made payable to the Thomas M. Sullivan Scholarship at 501 W. Washington Street, Frackville, PA 17931. This scholarship is set up to help a graduating North Schuylkill Senior who has lost a parent.
