Obituary

Marian E. Kleeman, 98, of Girardville, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 19th, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Girardville, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Concetta (Fulginiti) Catizone. Marian was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother whose greatest joy was her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph R. Kleeman; an infant son, John Kleeman; a grandson, Joseph Kleeman III; a daughter-in-law, Jane A. Kleeman; her brothers, Paneteleona, Peter, Anthony, Joseph, and Vincent Catizone; and her sisters, Concetta Hennessy and Michelena Catizone.

Marian was a woman of deep faith and was a proud member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Cecilia, Girardville, as well as the Girardville Red Hats. She was known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and the love she shared with everyone around her. One of Marian’s greatest joys was gathering her family together, especially for her cherished Sunday dinners. Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals, laughter, and stories shared among generations. She took great pride in preparing meals for her loved ones and making sure everyone had a place at her table. Her home was always open, and she welcomed not only her family but also friends and neighbors who became like family, making everyone feel special and cared for. The memories created around Marian’s table will remain a treasured part of her family’s lives for years to come.

Marian is survived by her children: Joseph Kleeman; Peter Kleeman and his wife Stephanie; Anthony Kleeman and his wife Beth; Marian Shirmer and her husband Jack; Michelena Smith and her husband Mark; and Conchetta Platt and her husband Doug. She is also survived by her brother, John Catizone and his wife Diane; her sisters, Rosemary Zelli; Jean Ann Kessler and her husband Joseph; and Elizabeth Burns and her husband Harold.

She was a loving grandmother to her 23 grandchildren: Taryn, Tiffany, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Stephanie, John, Michelena, Marian, Mark, Dennis, Peter, Jesse, Nicole, Nicholas, Anthony, Christian, Dawson, Lexi, Gage, Dallas, Kerry, and Alex. Marian is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her much happiness and pride.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland with Rev. Christopher Zelonis, pastor, as the celebrant. Marian’s viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville, and again on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Fountain Springs.
