Madeleine T. Galgay
Madeleine T. Galgay, 89, 14 S. Second Street, Frackville, died Monday night at her residence. Born in Frackville, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Marian " Haddad " Koury. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville. Madeleine was a 1938 graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy, Ft. Springs. She had been employed by Bethlehem Steel Co., Quincy, Mass. and later by Keystone Manufacturing , Boston, Mass. She was the founder/owner of Madeleine's Secretarial Services, Pottsville, which served the community for several years. She had last been employed as a medical secretary for the former Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville, until her retirement in 1984. She was a member and past president of the Good Samaritan Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Good Samaritan Retirees Association. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Frank J. Galgay in 2002, also by brothers; James, Michael, Charles, David, William, Joseph, Edward, Anthony and George Koury. She is survived by four daughters; Marian and her husband Joseph Halko, Ashland,Beverly and her husband Michael Kelly, Ashland, Honora and her husband Fran Jankowski, Muncy and Dottie and her husband Frank Brennan, Ashland, also a brother John Koury, Santa Anna, CA, two sisters, Martha DiSalvo and Anna Wonderlick, both of Frackville, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Friday from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville, with Rev. Michael Beers, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. with scripture service at 6:30.
