Lois J. Andrews , 97, of Carlisle and former Frackville resident passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 22nd.
Born in Frackville, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Julia (Fleetman) Yarnell. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Frackville and a former member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Frackville.
Lois was a gifted musician who played the trumpet in the Frackville High School Band. She played the piano by ear and was self-taught. Lois was the county pianist for Schuylkill County Christian Endeavor for many years. She played the organ beautifully and served as the organist at Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Frackville for over 50 years.
A talented seamstress working from her home, she sewed for her customers fashionable dresses, suits, gowns and uniforms. She also made alterations to clothing.
Lois was very intelligent with a remarkable memory. She kept up to date with the latest news. Because of her wise judgment, she could be relied upon to give good sound advice to family and friends.
She was an avid Penn State fan and enjoyed watching Penn State football games.
Lois was an excellent cook and baker who loved making meals from scratch or experimenting with new recipes for herself and her family.
She was a woman of great faith and determination. Lois was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed. She also had many dear and loyal friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy C. Andrews; her daughter Carol Guistwite; her brothers: Lester and Donald Yarnell; her sisters: Marian Masser and Shirley Lerch.
Lois is survived by her three sons: Ronald C. Andrews and his wife Beth, Ashland; David R. Andrews and his wife Lydia, Frackville; Jeff S. Andrews and his wife Jeanne, Ringtown; her sister, Alma Derr, Frackville; her sister-in-law, Lois Andrews Zemansky, Frackville; her son-in-law, Dr. Kenneth Guistwite; her grandchildren: Renee (Seth) Guistwite, Dr. Darryl (Michelle) Guistwite, Allie Andrews, Christopher Kinkaid and Gregory Andrews; her great-grandchildren: Sarah, Owen, Kenzie and Kai Guistwite, Brock Kinkaid; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3rd at 11 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church, Frackville with Rev. David Davis, pastor, officiating. Friends are invited to her visitation at the church on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Frackville.
The family greatly appreciated the services of Heartland Hospice for their compassion and the excellent care given to Lois.
