Leonard J. Saldukas

Leonard J Saldukas , 90, Frackville, went home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with heart failure, at Reading Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, February 29, 2012

Born in Gilberton he was a son of the late William and Eva " Schlack " Saldukas. He was the owner/operator of Saldukas Jewelers, a family owned business for 75 years in Frackville.

He was a life member of Frackville Elks Lodge # 1533 BPOE where he was the oldest living member of the lodge and was a past recipient of the " Elk of the Year " award . He was also a member of the Mountain Valley Senior Golf Association where he received numerous awards and trophies. He was the former Tax assessor, for several years, for the borough of Frackville.

He was a veteran of WWII serving with the Air Force in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

He was preceded in death by his brother William Saldukas and his sister Violet Putchofsky.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Blanche Lindemuth, three daughters; Diane wife of Ronald DeLuca, Myerstown, Linda wife of Walter Payne, Lansdale and Lenore Fritz, Easton, four grandchildren; Brian and Jared Fritz, Corbin and Tanner Payne, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Frackville. Interment will be in Annunciation B.V.M. cemetery, Englewood, Frackville. Friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 10 a.m until time of service.
