Leona Morgan
Leona Morgan, 92, lifelong Frackville resident, died peacefully Friday with her family at her side, at Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Frackville.
Born in Frackville she was a daughter of the late George Akelaitis and Anna Akelaitis Youch. She had been employed as a waitress, for several years, at the former Longo's Restaurant, St. Clair, until her retirement.
Leona was a life member of Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church , St. Joseph's Parish, Frackville. She was active throughout her life in all parish activities and especially enjoyed making pyrohy, three corners as she preferred calling them, for the church fundraisers.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence P. Morgan in 1992.
Leona is survived by her daughter Sharyn Lavelle, Plymouth, MA, her grand-daughters Maureen McGown, Martinsville, IN, Erin Lavelle, Lakeland FL and Courtney Button, Clearwater, FL, 7 great-grandchildren, her brother Edward Young, Middletown, NJ and her sister June Scharlach. Mt. Laurel, NJ also by several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Annunciation Catholic Church, Frackville, with Rev. Robert Finlan, pastor, as the celebrant. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until time of mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Englewood, Frackville.
