Obituary

Lenore Seitzinger

Lenore Seitzinger , 77, Frackville, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest.

Born in Ashland on July 22, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Elenore Krouch Treshock.  Shortly after high school, she married Herbert Seitzinger, the love of her life.  They would settle in Frackville and were married for 58 years at the time of her passing.  They were the perfect counterbalance and shared many wonderful times and memories in their marriage.  They raised two children, Chad and Angela.  While Lenore loved sharing stories of how Chad and Angie gave her premature grey hairs, both grew up to be wonderful people, a true reflection of the example Lenore and Herb provided.  She was a great wife and mother.

If one had to distill the essence of Lenore down to a couple of things, it would be these:

·        Love of the Lord.  Lenore came to the Lord outside of the traditional church setting, but she loved Him above all else.  She drew tremendous strength from His love and would also find comfort and solace in the Lord during difficult times.  She never pushed her spirituality on anyone, but if you were interested, she would talk for hours about her faith.  It is comforting for her family and those who loved her to know she is now resting in the loving arms of her Father.

·        Love of friends.  There is a quote from author Lilian Whiting – "To be rich in friends is to be poor in nothing."  If this is true, Lenore was easily the richest person in Schuylkill County and honestly ranked up with the richest people in the world.  To know Lenore was to love her. She had a smile and a kind word for everyone.  It is telling that her main jobs – Anthony's Supermarket and later as a Customer Service Representative at the Altamont branch bank – were all customer facing.  She had that rare ability to make a stranger feel like a lifelong friend.  Eternally optimistic, she was a wonderful resource for people.  If you were troubled by something in your life, a cup of coffee or a Coors Light and a cigarette was all Lenore needed and she would give you all the time in the world.  A wonderful listener, she was a sounding board for many through the years, dispensing advice that always proved to point those who received it toward the right path.

·        Love of family.  Lenore's life revolved around her immediate and extended family.  Marrying into a family of seven siblings provided many opportunities for family gatherings, and Lenore fully engaged.  For years, Saturday nights were spent either hosting or at one of the siblings' homes, playing pinochle, drinking a cold beer and sharing stories and laughs.  As Chad and Angie grew older, Lenore was always there to provide guidance and assistance in any way possible.  When the Lord began blessing her with grandchildren, she embraced her new role as "Grammy" and loved the grandchildren with every ounce of her being.  She knew no other way.

Christmas Eve – one of her favorite nights because of Jesus' coming birth and the family-focused nature of the evening – will never be the same without her.  We will continue to light bayberry candles on Christmas and New Year's Eve as she would expect nothing less.  We also pray that she is finally getting to enjoy seeing Elvis perform live.

Lenore is survived by her husband Herbert H. Seitzinger, her son Chad (Rachel) Seitzinger of Frackville, her daughter Angela, wife of Dr. Michael Pistoria of Macungie, and her grandchildren – Sydney and Steele Seitzinger and Giana and Andrew Pistoria.

Per Lenore's wishes, services and internment will be held privately for the immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Lenore's name be made to either RBC Ministries (PO box 266, Grand Rapids, MI  49501-0266), the Salvation Army (400n Sanderson Street, Pottsville, PA  17901) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (PO Box 1999, Memphis, TN  38101).
