Kenneth J. Wayne
, 78, Girardville, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning at the home of his daughter Aileen in Fountain Springs, Ashland.
Born in Girardville he was a son of the late Raymond and Alice McDonald Wayne. He was a partner, with his brother Henry, in Wayne Plumbing and Heating, Ashland.
He was a member of the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Girardville.
He was a graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School, Girardville and he attended Steven's Trade School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964.
He had been employed at US Steel, Yardley, PA and later by Lucas Ford in the Philadelphia area. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Jack Kehoe Division 1, a volunteer with the Rangers Fire Co., and a member of the American Legion Post, all of Girardville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Henry Wayne.
Ken is survived by two sons; Michael and David Wayne both of Girardville, two daughters; Aileen and her husband David McCabe, Ashland and Karyn Wayne Stevenson, Frackville, two brothers; Raymond and his wife Rose Ann Wayne and Joseph Wayne both of Girardville, his four grandchildren; Sean, Megan, Michael and Allison also by nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 8:30 a.m. to the time of service. Interment with military honors will be held in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Fountain Springs.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions, in Ken's name, to the Girardville American Legion Post, 122 W. Main Street, Girardville, PA 17935.
