Joseph V. Ferrari

Joseph V. Ferrari , 76, Girardville passed away on Tuesday, January 3 rd at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Ashland, he was a son of the late Theodore and Marie Coyle Ferrari.

Joe was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He was a proud member of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club.

He had a love for horses, motorcycles, big trucks and muscle cars.  He was introduced at a young age to drag racing by his brothers who started his love for fast cars. This started him to build his own cars for racing.

He had a love for animals. His beloved pets were Terror, Bridget Ann, Tiger, Inga, Turkey and dear Callie.

Joe owned and operated his own horse farm in Beury's Grove.  This was a passion of his from a young age.

Joe owned his own Gas station and garage in Girardville, Ferrari's Service Station.

He worked at Cleveland Brothers with his brother Ted. He was a Partsman in his twenties and then went on to be a truck driver. He was last employed prior to his retirement with Tri State Envelope, Ashland as a truck driver/jockey.

He was a big fan of WWF professional wrestling. He attended many matches at Hamburg Field House and Allentown Fair Grounds. At one point he had an extensive collection of pictures of the superstars from the 1960's, 70's and 80's.

One of the fondest memories his family has of Joe was when his sister, brothers and their families put in his huge pool in one weekend on his farm.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Ted Ferrari and Tom Ferrari; his sister Miriam Bradley.

Joe is survived by his fiancé Diane Martin, Girardville; his son, Joseph Ferrari; his brothers: Ron and his wife Mary Ferrari; Lou and his wife Geraldine Ferrari; Rob Ferrari; a grandson, Joseph; several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 9 th at 12:30 pm from St. Vincent dePaul Church, Girardville with Rev. Guiseppe Esposito, pastor, as the celebrant. Friends are invited to his viewing at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm and again on Monday from 10:30 am to 12 noon. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Diane Martin at 101 Upper Railroad Street, Girardville, PA 17935 to help defray funeral costs.
