John  Sims

John Sims , 378 Roosevelt Drive, New Boston, died Thursday at Schuylkill Medical Center, S. Jackson Street.

Born in Mahanoy City he was a son of the late Andrew and Anna " Peltis " Sims. He was last employed by Gilberton Coal Co. until his retirement.

He was a life long member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church and a 60 yr member of American Legion Post # 74, both of Mahanoy City. He was a 1939 graduate of the former Mahanoy Twp. High School and was an US Army veteran of WW II.

He was preceded in death by a brother Paul.

John is survived by his wife the former Helen " Unuscavage " with whom he would have celebrated 60 yrs. Of marriage on April 23rd, a son John A. of Philadelphia, two brothers Andrew Sims Jr., Levittown and Michael P. Sims, Bristol and his niece and caregiver Nancy Sawka, Frackville.

Relatives and friends are invited to an Office of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Monday in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City with Rev. James Carroll, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 until time of service.
