The Reverend John J. Pavlosky
Rev. John J. Pavlosky , Pastor Emeritus, of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Saint John the Baptist, and Saint Mary of the Assumption Churches, Coaldale, died on Wednesday, 27 October 2010, at the age of 65, at Broad Mountain Manor, Frackville, Pennsylvania.
Born in Frackville, April 8, 1945, Father Pavlosky was the son of the late Jacob and Anna Mae (Brenkach) Pavlosky. He was an alter server, for several years, in his home parish , St. Ann's Catholic Church, Frackville. He remained a devout member and was active in parish activities even through his days in the seminary, memories he cherished throughout his life. As a high school student, he may be remembered, as the accordion player for the Cavalier's Orchestra , who were popular in the area in the early 1960's. He is survived by cousins.
Father Pavlosky attended Saint Joseph Parochial School, Frackville, and Immaculate Heart High School, Fountain Springs. He attended Saint Mary College and studied for the Priesthood at Saints Cyril and Methodius Seminary, Orchard Lake, Michigan. He was ordained to the Priesthood on 27 March 1971 by The Most Reverend Joseph McShea at the Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Sienna, Allentown.
Father Pavlosky's first Priestly assignment was Parochial Vicar, Sacred Heart Church, Palmerton, followed by Parochial Vicar, Saint Mary Church, Reading; Professor, Reading Central Catholic High School and Parochial Vicar, Saint Joseph Church, Reading, and Professor, Nativity B.V.M. High School, Pottsville, and Pastoral assignment was at Saint Anthony of Padua Church, Cumbola, followed by Pastor, Saint Michael Church, Northampton; Pastor, Saints Cyril and Methodius Church, Saint John the Baptist Church, and Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, Coaldale.
During the course of his Priestly Ministry, Father Pavlosky held the following Auxiliary Diocesan Assignments: Chaplain, Catholic Scouting and Regional Director, Holy Name Society, East Schuylkill County. Upon retirement, Father Pavlosky was named Pastor Emeritus of Saints Cyril and Methodius Church, Saint John the Baptist Church, and Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, Coaldale.
A mass of Christian Burial for Father Pavlosky will be celebrated at Saint Ann Church, 97 North Line Street, Frackville, Pennsylvania, by His Excellency, the Most Reverend John. O. Barres, Bishop of Allentown, on Wednesday, 3 November 2010, at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Monsignor James J. Reichert, Pastor, Saint Rocco Church, Martins Creek, will be the Homilist.
Concelebrating the Mass are Reverend Monsignor Alfred A. Schlert, Vicar General; Reverend Monsignor Gerald E. Gobitas, Secretary for Clergy, Chancellor, and Rector, Holy Family Villa; Reverend James C. Bechtel, Pastor, Saint Jerome Church, Tamaqua; Reverend J. Michael Beers, Pastor, Saint Joseph Church, Frackville; Reverend Edward J. Essig, Pastor, Annunciation B.V.M. Church and Saint Ann Church, Frackville; Reverend Joseph L. Grembocki, Pastor, Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Slatington; Reverend Joseph T. Whalen, Pastor, Saint Richard Church, Barnesville, and Reverend Monsignor James J. Reichert.
The Vigil Service will be on Tuesday, 2 November 2010, at Saint Ann Church, at 7:30 PM. The Reverend Monsignor Edward J. O'Connor, Dean of Schuylkill Deanery, will preside. The Homilist will be Reverend Edward J. Essig, Pastor, Annunciation B.V.M. Church and Saint Ann Church, Frackville. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until time of mass. Interment will be, with his parents, in St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Englewood, Frackville.
