Jack "Spade" Dando

Jack "Spade" Dando , 62, Girardville passed away on Monday, May 27th at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, Allentown with his family by his side.

Jack was born in Ashland to his late parents, William E. and Claire (McDonald) Dando. After graduating from Cardinal Brennan High School, Jack started working as a clerk for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Treasury for over 25 years before retiring.

Jack was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed the annual trips to South Bend with the guys. He had a passion for restoring cars especially his Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. He also enjoyed Nascar and Sprint Car Racing.

Jack was an outdoorsman who loved, fishing, hunting and shooting guns. He was a thrill seeker who loved driving his dune buggy and riding his Jet Ski up at the "A-Hole." He could also be seen bartending at the family bar, The Sons of Italy in Girardville.

Jack was a concert enthusiast.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Stephen Dando.

Jack is survived by his daughter Kara Dando; his son, Chaz Dando; his four sisters: Claire Salukas and her husband Josie; Cathy Dyszel; Patty Gregas; Sandy Selgrade and her husband Todd; his 3 brothers: William B. Dando; Tim Dando and his wife Jean; Michael Dando; numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Jack will be held on Saturday, June 1st from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, 403 W. Main Street, Girardville. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made, in Jack's name, to the Girardville Good Time Club in care of Todd Selgrade at 1 Powdermill Road, Girardville, PA 17935.
