Joan A. Shalamanda

Joan A. Shalamanda , 75, Germanville Rd., Ashland, died peacefully, late Wednesday night, with her family at her side, at Schuylkill MedicalCenter, East Norwegian St., Pottsville.

Born in William Penn she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen ( Barrett ) Drosey.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Girardville. She graduated from the former St. Joseph's Catholic School, Girardville, She was a devoted homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Joan is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Steve Shalamanda, her four daughters and her son; Joanne wife of Larry Brindle, Pine Grove, Chris wife of Jim Rineer, Mechanicsburg, Diane wife of Ken Abbanato, Lantana, FL, Steve and his wife Rita Shalamanda, Ashland and Patti and her husband John Cataldo, Pine Grove, her grandchildren; Grant and Kevin Brindle, Jamie Hitz, Adam Rineer, Kendra Abbanato, Stephen Shalamanda, John, Nick and Evan Cataldo, her great-granchildren; Ava and Ella Brindle and Carter Hitz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Girardville, with Rev Edward B. Connolly, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Fountain Springs. Friends may call at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville, on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until 10:30.
