Joan K. Fennelly
Joan K. Fennelly , 82, lifelong Frackville resident, died peacefully Thursday morning at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Frackville, she was the youngest daughter of the late Lawrence and Caroline (Miller) Kiefer.
Joan was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville. She was a graduate of Frackville High School, class of 1949 and of McCann School of Business.
Prior to getting married, she worked for the department of education in Harrisburg for 10 years. In 1959, she married the love of her life, Earl, who died only 3 short years later. Joan had been employed as a secretary for the Operation Plus School in Pottsville which was run by the Catholic Social Agency.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl in 1962; 3 Brothers; Lawrence, Bernard and Daniel Kiefer; 2 sisters: Margaret Fiorillo and Catherine Bugdanewicz.
Joan is survived by her son Earl "Bud" and Lisa Olson Fennelly, Mt. Penn, her daughter Kathleen and her husband Thomas Hartman, Newark, OH, her grandson Evan Hartman, who was the light of her life; sisters-in-law Irene Faldetta and Susan Taylor Fennelly and her dear friend and sister-in-law Helen Kiefer; 3 brothers-in-law: David, Paul, and Richard Fennelly, her canine companion and best friend Max. She is also survived by many nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews, whom she loved very much and they loved her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Frackville with Msgr. Anthony Muntone as the celebrant. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until time of mass. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made, in Joan's name, to the Hillside SPCA, 51 Spca Road, Pottsville, PA 17901.
