Jeffrey J. Troxell Sr.
Jeffrey James Troxell was born on Friday the 13 th in June of 1952 at Ashland Hospital to the late Franklin H. and Julia (Takach) Troxell. He passed away on May 20, 2021 in Clearlake, CA after a valiant battle with esophageal cancer.
After an adventure and mischief-filled childhood in Frackville, Jeff graduated from North Schuylkill High School in 1970; he briefly attended Salem College in Salem, WV, then enlisted in the US Navy. Upon completion of basic training in Orlando, FL, he was stationed on the island of Guam in the Pacific Ocean during the Viet Nam Conflict. Later, he was stationed on Adak, an Aleutian Island in the Bering Sea west of Alaska. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Jeff lived in southern CA and pursued employment in the entertainment industry and as a transcontinental truck driver. Later he became a heavy equipment operator for the CA Department of Transportation; he rose to the position of crew supervisor upon transferring to the northern CA area. Residing in the town of Clearlake Oaks for the past 15 years, he enjoyed the mountains, lakes, wildlife and lack of human population! An avid outdoorsman, Jeff engaged in fishing, hunting and competitive shooting; he belonged to several Rod and Gun clubs and won numerous awards at local tournaments.
Jeff is survived by his son, Jeffrey J. Troxell Jr., of Salt Lake City, Utah; his sister, Neretta Troxell Brobst of Homosassa, FL; his sole remaining aunt, Hazel Troxell Jasiewicz of Boylston, MA; numerous cousins and friends in PA, NJ, FL and CA; and his neighbor, best friend and fellow sportsman, Vinnie Garofalo of Clearlake, CA.
On Monday, July 26, 2021 from 11 am to 12 noon, friends are welcome to visit with Jeff's family at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home at 501 W. Washington Street, Frackville. Interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, where his parents rest, at 1:30 pm. Flowers are welcome; donations in Jeff's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or your local animal rescue facility.
