November 22, 1927 – December 4, 2017

James Roy Morgan , 90, passed away Monday, December 04, 2017 at his home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Jim was born November 22, 1927 in Frackville, Pennsylvania.  He honorably served his country in the United States Navy for two years.  Participated in two atomic bomb tests at Operations Crossroads at "Bikini, Atoll" in the Marshall Islands July 1946. Served on the destroyer USS Allen M. Sumner DD692 for his time in the service.

Employed at Bell Telephone/Verizon for 34 years and retired when he was 57 years old. He loved playing golf weekly on the senior league at Deer Creek Valley and watching sports on the weekend. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania.

Jim was a wonderful husband to his wife, Jane, for 66 years and was adored by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vaughn and Myrtle Morgan, brothers, George, Vaughn, Roy, Jack and sister, Anita deceased at 4 years of age.

He is survived by his wife, Jane, son, James and daughter, Pamela. Sisters, Mary Alice Reese of Harrisburg, PA and Dorothy Peteritas of Evansville, Indiana.  Grandchildren, Adam Morgan, Jenna Powell and husband Ryan Powell, great grandchildren, Garrett Powell, Faith Powell and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Asana Hospice for their excellent care Jim received and for their caring and compassion during the past week.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville with Rev. Lois K. Van Orden officiating. A visitation will be held for friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Frackville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 100 Main Street, Hummelstown, PA 17036.
