James E. Minahan Jr.

James E. Minahan Jr ., 70, lifelong resident of Mahanoy Plane, died unexpectedly Thursday at his residence in Schuylkill Haven where he lived for the past 10 years.

Born in Mahanoy Plane he was a son of the late James and Elizabeth ( Meade ) Minahan. He last worked as an insurance salesman for American General and previously as a truck driver/delivery person for Sheehan Distributors.

He was a member of the former Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Mahanoy Plane and later St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Girardville.

He was a US Army veteran of the Viet Nam War.

Jim was an AVID Eagles and Phillies sports fan and there was nothing he enjoyed more than his spaghetti dinners with his grandchildren every other Sunday.

He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Ann Lomas.

Jim is survived by his son and daughter; James Minahan, Mahanoy Plane and Carol wife of Keith Wolfe, Schuylkill Haven, two brothers; Stephen Minahan, Mahanoy Plane and John Minahan, FL, his sister Elizabeth George, Mahanoy Plane, six grandchildren; Nicole, Brian and Michelle Copeland, James and Dylan Minahan and Cody Mertz, several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church ( Chapel ), Girardville with Rev. Edward B. Connolly, pastor as the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Englewood, Frackville. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:30 a.m. until time of mass.
