James L. "Jim" Connors
, 77, lifelong resident of Girardville, passed away peacefully on Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill East, Pottsville.
Born in Girardville, he was a son of the late John and Dorothy McDonald Connors. He had been employed as an investigator for the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare until his retirement.
Jim served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Girardville American Legion Post 309 and a member and usher of the former St. Joseph's Church, Girardville.
Jim was a 1957 graduate of the former Immaculate Heart High School, Fountain Springs. He later became a historian of Immaculate Heart and Cardinal Brennan High Schools. Jim enjoyed spending his time on the computer doing research. He loved to read, play his grand piano and was well known for his ability of holding grudges. He enjoyed attending North Schuylkill sporting events.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Thomas, Jack and Gerald Connors.
Jim is survived by his son Kieran Connors, Girardville; his daughter Mollie, wife of Larry Pryzblick, Zion Grove; his three sisters: Elizabeth, wife of Doc Mayers, Mount Ephraim, Catherine Urban, Darby and Loretta Ross of West Chester; his two granddaughters Olive and Josephine Pryzblick and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. until time of service. Private interment will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
