Irene O. Bura

Irene O. Bura , 60, Frackville, died peacefully Wednesday morning at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Jersey City, NJ she was a daughter of the late Hryhory and Maria " Hyshpil " Bura.

She was a member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Shenandoah and a graduate of Johnson and Wales Culinary Institute, Providence, RI.

She had been employed as a culinary chef at several restaurants and bakeries throughout New York and New Jersey. After moving to Frackville she had been employed at the New York Bakery and later at Boyer's Food Markets, until her retirement.

Irene is survived by her four brothers; Nicholas and his wife Olga Bura, Cedar Knolls, NJ, Theodore and his wife Joyce Bura, Monroe, CT, Bishop John Bura, Bishop of the Eparchy of Parma, OH and Walter and his wife Mary Anne Bura, Woodland Park, NJ, her sister Rosalie and her husband Eugene Naumenko, Stroudsburg, also by several nieces and nephews.

Requiem service with Divine Liturgy will be celebrated, for Irene, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Shenandoah, with her brother Bishop John Bura as the main celebrant. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until time of Liturgy. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions to St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Shenandoah.
