, 69, Girardville, died peacefully Thursday afternoon in his home, surrounded by his loving family after a 7 year battle with cancer.

Born in Shenandoah on January 18, 1945, he was a son of the late Raymond and Alice "McDonald" Wayne.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Girardville.

Henry graduated from Girardville High School in 1962 and from Stevens Trade School, Reading, in 1964. He was an Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War, where he served as a medic. Henry was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He had been employed as a plumber/mechanic by B & B Refrigeration and Wartz Mechanical Contracting, while living in Silver Springs, MD. After returning to Girardville, Henry started his own business, Wayne Plumbing and Heating in 1972. His brother Kenneth became his partner and years later his sons, John and Raymond joined into the business.

Henry was a member of the Girardville American Legion Post # 309 for 18 years, a member of Disabled American Veterans since 1969, a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Sheridan Council of Girardville, a member of the Girard hunting club since inception, a member of the Ranger Fire Co., Girardville, for over 40 years and also coached the Dodgers of Girardville Little League. Henry was a charter member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Jack Kehoe Division 1.

He was a devoted fan of the Phillies and Redskins. Henry enjoyed fishing and hunting but most of all enjoyed working alongside his brother and sons and playing with his grandchildren.

Henry is survived by his wife of 40 years the former Eileen B. (Croake), his 3 sons: Raymond J. Wayne of Girardville, Brian P. and his wife Taisha Wayne of Frackville and John H. "Duke" Wayne of Ashland; his 3 brothers: Raymond and his wife Rose Ann Wayne, Kenneth and his wife Helen Mae Wayne and Joseph and his wife Barbara Wayne, all of Girardville. Henry is also survived by 3 grandchildren Logan, Teagan and Lillian Wayne along with many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday morning in St. Joseph's Church, Giarardville, with Rev. Edward B. Connolly, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment, with full military honors, will be in the parish cemetery, Ft. Springs. Friends may call at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville, Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. and Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The family prefers contributions, in Henry's name, be made to the Girardville American Legion Post # 309, 122 W. Main Street Girardville, PA 17935 or to the Girardville Little League via Todd Selgrade at 1 Powdermill Road, Girardville, PA 17935.
