Helen M. Yensko

Helen M. Yensko , 89, Gordon, passed away peacefully at her residence early on Friday morning.

Born in Mahanoy City, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Downey Igo.

Helen was a 1946 graduate of the former West Mahanoy Township High School and a 1950 graduate of the former Ashland State General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a RN Supervisor on the Third Floor of the former Locust Mountain Hospital, Shenandoah until her retirement in 1979.

She was a member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Shenandoah.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Walter Yensko in 1991; her two sisters: Margaret Gaval in 2001 and Mary Rainis in 2016.

Helen is survived by her sister Ann and her husband William Wiernicki, Lancaster and their children; her great nephew Mark and his wife Christine Rainis, Girardville; her great-great nephew and best friend, Mark Rainis Jr.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private funeral services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
