, 93, 2200 First Ave. Pottsville, died early Wednesday morning at Manorcare, Pottsville.
Born in Chicago, Ill., she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary "Bak" Machusky. She had been employed as a seamstress for the former Pottsville Mills until her retirement.
Helen was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minersville, and a member of the Married Women's Sodality of the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Makara in 1984, also by a brother Steve Machusky, a half-brother Mike Machusky and three sisters: Margaret Connors, Eva Hazen and Sophie Kueneman.
She is survived by two sisters Alice Phalen, Reno, NV and Pauline Demkowicz, Chicago, Ill. also numerous nieces and nephews.
Parastas service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, Minersville. Requiem Divine Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minersville, with Archpriest Michael Hutsko, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until time of service.
