Helen Corrigan

Helen Corrigan passed away on Monday, September 22 in Palo Alto, CA.

Born on February 28, 1925 in Tamaqua, PA, she was a resident of Allentown and a member of St. Catharine of Siena parish for over 40 years.

Helen received her RN from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing and was a cadet in the elite Army Corps of Nurses during World War II. She worked as an OR nurse in Detroit, MI and a private duty nurse in NYC before serving as a nurse in utilization review for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Lehigh Valley, where she eventually retired.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen will be held in Washington, DC. She will be buried next to her husband, Thomas Corrigan, at Arlington National Cemetery.

Helen is survived by her four children: Helen Corrigan Hoffmann of New York City; Tom Corrigan of Wilmington, DE; Mary Young of Manhattan Beach, CA; and John Corrigan of Los Altos, CA. , a sister Nellie Wenzel, Tamaqua, seven grandchildren , several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Easter Seals Association or Saints Peter and Paul Church, 307 Pine St, Tamaqua, PA.

Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville, is in charge of arrangements.
