George F. Carado Sr.
George F. Carado Sr. , 79, Ashland, passed away peacefully Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill East, Pottsville, with his family at his side.
Born in Ashland he was the son of the late George and Josephine Manganelli Carado. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator for Number 1 Contracting doing highway construction.
He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Ashland. He was a graduate of Butler High School, class of 1958. George served in the US Army in the engineering division in France and was also a graduate of the Army Airborne Jump School. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening but most of all enjoyed his family vacations at Myrtle Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years Justine Chismar McCormick Carado, his two daughters; Maria and Janice, three sons; George and his wife Cindy, Tony and Vince and his wife Jennifer, his step-children; Scott and his wife Janice, Jason and his wife Becky and Matthew and his wife Melanie, his grandchildren; Cory, Dylan, Andrew, Dominick, Kyla, Jason, Tyler, Brett and Jocilyn and two great-grandchildren; Sophia and Oliver.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Ashland, with Rev. Paul Rothermel, pastor, as the celebrant. There will be no visitation prior to mass. Interment with military honors will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fountain Springs.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions, in George's name, be made to either the Memorial Fund of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 1115 Walnut St., Ashland, 17921 or to St. Judes Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
