Eva Smolock
Eva Smolock , 89, Frackville, for the past several months a guest at Providence Place, Pottsville, passed away peacefully Sunday at Schuylkill Medical Center, South Jackson St.,Pottsville, with her family by her side.
Born in Maizeville she was a daughter of the late Wasyl and Julia ( Hupcej ) Gogar. She had been employed as a seamstress, for the former Charles Rabin Co., Frackville, until its closing.
She was a life member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Maizeville. She graduated from Frackville High School, class of 1944.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, in 2001, by her husband of 49 years Nicholas Smolock, whom she married in St. John's Church on August 12, 1951, also by six sisters; Anna Masinick, Julia Melnic, Mary Yastishock, Helen Zurat, Paraska Kopach and Olga Gogar.
Eva is survived by her two sons; John and his wife Tina Smolock, Pottsville and Thomas Smolock, Frackville, her daughter Evelyn wife of Anthony Tezak, Enhaut, PA, her 5 grandchildren; Christopher, MD, Jennifer, Amanda, MD PhD , Anthony and Joshua, her 4 great-grandchildren; Gianna, Veronica, Janelle and Jacob, her brother William Gogar, Knoxville, TN and by many nieces and nephews.
Panakhyda service will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Maizeville, with Rev. Roman Pitula, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Englewood, Frackville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. with Parastas service at 6:15.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions, in Eva's name, be made to the memorial fund of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 243 S. Middle Street, Frackville, PA 17931
