Ellen K. Gaughan

Ellen K. Gaughan , 95, Girardville, died peacefully Monday morning at Shenandoah Senior Living Community, Shenandoah.

Born in Girardville she was a daughter of the late Edmund J. and Molly ( Towey ) Brennan.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a charter member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Cecelia, both of Girardville.

She graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School, Girardville, in 1938 and NY Beauty School, Pottsville. Ellen was an avid Notre Dame fan.

The last member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by her husband Anthony J. Gaughan, Sr. 1993, her son Anthony J. Gaughan Jr., her daughter Maryellen Gaughan, two brothers; John A. Brennan Sr. and Edmund J. Brennan, Jr. two sisters; Mary Brennan and Helen Ann Downey.

Ellen is survived by her sons; Gerald P. Sr. and his wife Cheryl Gaughan, Girardville and Philip E. and his wife Kathryn Gaughan, Shenandoah Heights, her daughter Erin wife of Dean Wendling, Girardville, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her niece Mary Ann wife of Phillip Wowak, Taylors, SC also by several additional nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday in the chapel of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Girardville, with Rev. Edward B. Connolly, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Friends may call at the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville, on Friday morning from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m.
