Dorothy McCormick

Dorothy McCormick , 92, former Ashland resident passed away peacefully Monday evening at Shenandoah Senior Living Community, Shenandoah.

Born in Ashland, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Canavan Vaughn. She had been employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry.

Dorothy was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed cooking, sewing and was well traveled enjoying her time on cruises.

She was preceded in death by her husband Francis McCormick, her daughter Ellen Holowaty, her sister Betty Green and her brothers; Joseph, Andrew, Vincent and Robert Vaughn.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons: Att'y. Patrick F. McCormick, Frackville; Sean and his wife Maureen McCormick, Lewes, DE, her grandchildren: Rory (Alexis) McCormick, Moira (Bruce) Williams, Shea McCormick, Catherine (Anthony) Sechuk and Timothy (Caitlin) McCormick; three great-grandsons: Evan, Luke and Cameron also by several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, at 11 a.m. in Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Ashland, with Rev. Giuseppe Esposito, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fountain Springs. A viewing, for family and friends , will be held on Friday from 9:30 until time of mass in the church.

Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville & Girardville, is in charge of arrangements.
