David E. " Gene " Leatherman
, 75, Frackville, formerly of Girardville, passed away peacefully Thursday at his residence with his family at his side.
He was a son of the late John and Edith ( Sprecker ) Leatherman. He had been employed as a truck driver for K J Transportation, for several years, until his retirement. He was a member of the Girardville police force in the 1970's.
He was a member of Zion Primitive Methodist Church, Mount Carmel, where he served as vice-president of the church council. He studied electrical engineering at the Vo Tech of Lincoln High School in the Philadelphia Area.
He was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne L. ( Schneff ) Leatherman and a daughter Bonnie Jean Leatherman.
Gene is survived by his son Eugene Leatherman, Keystone Heights, FL, his three daughters; Diane Guinther, Frackville, Robyn Warren, Tower City and Holly wife of Larry Kowalishen, Frackville, a sister Barbara Marzulli, Philadelphia, seven grandsons, two granddaughters and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville, with his pastor, Rev. Neil Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions, in Gene's name, be made to the Hillside SPCA, 51 SPCA Rd., Pottsville, PA 17901
