David J. Byrne , 79, lifelong resident of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Monday morning at Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Born in Shenandoah, he was a son of the late Jeremiah and Kathleen (Kelly) Byrne. He had been employed in the custodial department of West Mahanoy Township High School and later by the Shenandoah Valley School District until his retirement.

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and was a graduate of West Mahanoy Township High School.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: James, John, Jeremiah, and Paul Byrne and a sister Kathryn Dougherty.

Dave is survived by two brothers: William Byrne, Girardville and Vincent Byrne, Mascoutah, IL; two sisters: Anne Bramley, Frackville and Margaret Devanney, Shenandoah; sister-in-law Barbara Byrne, Ringtown; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at Divine Mercy Church, Shenandoah with Msgr. Ronald C. Bocian as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Annunciation BVM Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. Friends may call at the church Friday morning from 9 a.m. until time of mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions, in David's name, to the memorial fund of Divine Mercy Parish at 108 W. Cherry Street Shenandoah, PA 17976
