Charles R. Eiche

Charles R. Eiche, 155 S. Center Street, Frackville, died Sunday evening at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.

Born in Frackville he was a son of the late Raymond and Marie " Cooper " Eiche. He had been employed as the manager of Gulf Oil Corp., Barnesville, until his retirement. He was an US Army veteran of WW II having served in Africa and the European Theater of Operations.

Charles was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served for several years on the church council, Elks Lodge #1533, a fifty year member of Frackville Lodge # 737 F. & A.M. , American Legion Post #398 and a life member of Goodwill Hose Co., all of Frackville. He was a member of Scottish Rite, Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown. Charles was an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Lou Anne in 1962 and his son Robert C. in 1995.

Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Lou " Murphy " with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 26, 2008, two daughters; Cheryl and her husband Robert Hinkle, Harrisonburg, VA and Chris and her husband David Brey, Douglassville, also two brothers Raymond Eiche Jr., Lansdale and Waldemer Eiche, Minersville, two sisters Margaret Rowlands, Reading and Marie Hastings, Philadelphia. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; Keri Hinkle Brown, Ruth Hinkle Fisher, Charles Craddock, Matthew Craddock, Daniel Hinkle, Natasha Hinkle and Jennifer Kessler, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville, with Rev. Oliver Brown, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Frackville. Friends may call at Zion Lutheran Church on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m..

The family prefers contributions, in Charles's name, be made to the Memorial Fund of Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville.
