Catherine "Kate" Uholik
Catherine "Kate" C. Uholik , 70, of Harrisburg passed away on Monday, June 14th, at UPMC Community Osteopathic Hospital, surrounded by her friends and family following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Kate was born in Ashland, on August 1, 1950, and grew up in Shenandoah.
A spitfire who was fiercely protective of those she loved and always put the needs of others before her own, Kate was a member of Shenandoah Catholic High School's last class (1968) and she enjoyed a career as colorful as her personality. In her early life, she served as a medical technician in Philadelphia before moving into a supervisory role with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Harrisburg. But she found her calling in 1998, when she transitioned in real estate. Kate spent the remainder of her life building a successful business and positively impacting the lives of hundreds of happy homeowners in Central Pennsylvania and beyond, many of whom became family.
Kate is survived by her husband of 42 years Paul of Harrisburg; son Brian and wife Jamie of Alexandria, VA; the light of her life granddaughter Wynnalise; sister Mary Anne (Coyle) Shimer and husband Richard of Harrisburg; brother Michael Coyle and wife Lynn of Harrisburg; 18 nieces and nephews, including her partner-in-crime Jennifer (Shimer) Smith of Harrisburg; and brother and sister in all-but-blood John and Maria (Herrity) Flannery of Media.
Kate was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Claire (Keim) Coyle. We are all lesser for her passing; Kate will be dearly missed and remembered.
