Carl L. Sanner
Carl L. Sanner , 86. Frackville, died peacefully Wednesday, after a 3 year struggle with Alzheimer's disease, at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.
Born in Bethlehem he was a son of the late Elmer and Hilda ( Lewis ) Sanner. He was in charge of the coal inspection division of Fazio Brothers, Coaldale and later by Bethlehem Steel Corp. which purchased the business. He then was employed for several years, by Herman Yudacofsky until his retirement.
He was a devout member, from the age of 8, of Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville, where he served several terms on the church council and had been the superintendent of the Lutheran Cemetery, Frackville, for over 40 years. He was a 1945 graduate of the former Frackville High School and enlisted in the Army after graduation. He was a member of Frackville Elks Lodge # 1533, Goodwill Hose Co., and American Legion Post # 398 all of Frackville, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge and Telephone Pioneers both of Port Charlotte, FL. He and his wife Lois enjoyed vacationing in Fl. for the winters for the last 25 years. He was a great outdoorsman, loved hunting, fishing, camping, ice skating and always enjoyed the seasonal huckleberry harvest.
Carl was a US Army veteran having served three years in Germany and Austria after WW II.
He was preceded in death by his son Keith Lewis Sanner in 1987.
Carl is survived by his wife of 64 years the former Lois " Coon ", his son Carl, Ravena, NY, his daughter Kimberly wife of Scott Varner, Schuylkill Haven, his grandson, Stephen C. Williams III, Hamburg, his brother Donald R. and his wife Carol Sanner, Wyomissing and by nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville, on Sunday at 4 p.m. with Rev. Oliver E. Brown, pastor , officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions, in Carl's name, to the Memorial Fund of Zion Lutheran Church, Oak & Nice Sts., Frackville, PA 17931.
