Barbara A. Evans , 87, Frackville passed away on Friday, April 12th at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill, Pottsville, surrounded by family and music.
Born in Shenandoah, she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Post) Petusky. She was also preceded in death by her husband Shem R. Evans III; her son Shem Evans IV, and by her brother Jack Petusky.Barbara is survived by her son, Gary Evans and his wife Tina; her three daughters: Barbara Eccleston and her husband Dennis; Kate Dowling and her husband Mike; Susanne Smith; her sister, Betsy Bro; her 9 grandchildren: Kimberly Brown, Stephen Smith, Sean Smith, Keith Smith, Kristine Yesalusky, Susanne Hahn, Kathryn Tedesco, Savannah Coyne and Jacob Evans; her 18 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Barbara loved spending time with her family, particularly when it involved being outside, music, or adventures. She and her late husband would host many family gatherings in which their children Gary, Shem, and Kate would play their guitars for everyone to enjoy. She loved music from all decades but, the 70s present of at the forefront of memories; Neil Diamond was her favorite but, she would sing or dance on any occasion she could.
If you visited Barbara at home, you would smell eucalyptus from her crafting or Old English on a cleaning day. You would find books upon books; both new and used, though anything by John Grisham was her favorite. She enjoyed Chevy Chase movies, "I Love Lucy", and classic family comedy, and when she laughed, it was a big laugh with her whole heart that was contagious.
Being blessed with such a large growing family was her greatest treasure. She would never turn down an opportunity to talk on the phone, babysit, attend a game or a recital. She loved to share about what her family was up to and express her pride and how impressed she was by their talent and determination.
Barbara had confided how lucky she was to live a long and fulfilling life with her loved ones and many cherished memories.
Graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family.
